Gisborne Honda Sidecar Champ of Champs

On Saturday night 10th March the Gisborne Speedway club will be running the postponed Gisborne Honda sponsored Sidecar Champ of Champs title.
The club will have 16 pairs racing over 20 heats to find the 2007 champions. During the course of the night every pair gets to race against all the others with each pair having 5 races during the night. 10 local pairs will race against bikes from Napier , Auckland and Wellington for the title with current NZ and NZGP winner Toby Lardelli / Mike Bond (1NZ) looking to add this title to the two national titles and  the West Coast title that they have already won this year. There will be plenty of opponents looking to knock them off tonight including defending title holders and current 2NZ pair Les Plummer and Kervin Demanser from Hawkes Bay. Also from the bay will be the Russell Stuart / Andrew Parker pair who finished third in this event last season. Former Gisborne driver Stu Priest returns from Wellington with swinger Richie Dunbar (52W) while former local stockcar driver Pete Steigenberger returns with his partner Dave Black from Hawkesbay (21B).

Local pairs Rob Miler/ Steven Frame (8G), Clive Ireland / Brendon Webber (56G), Ryan Bailey / Glynn Church (69G) , Nick and Myles Jensen (62G) have been going well this season and cannot be discounted while the returning  Sefton and Clint Truuts (61G) will be having their first run at home this season and I am sure they will quickly be on the pace. Expect plenty of hard close racing in this class over the night.
Gates open at 5:00pm with Racing starting at 6:00pm
